Any time there’s a thread on HN talking about prices for phone handsets, someone inevitably complains that all the prices being discussed are for contract-subsidized phones. Often, the same people hold the opinion that Apple’s laptops and other full-on computers are “more expensive” than comparable PC hardware. Yet for some reason they never want to consider the fact that comparable PC hardware is subsidized by a metric ass-ton of crapware.
